Most effecient way to pass protect

Question for Slide Protection and 2 Gap DL and blitzes:

If your right guard is covered by a 2 technique and you are sliding right: 2 Tech engages him in a bullrush... what happens if he gets a blitz to the gap he is supposed to be sliding to?

Does he try and pass it off to the center?

I'm just asking because we see this blitz alot with the 4-2/3-3 stack teams we play. The DL will go straight ahead - not taking a gap, then the LB will blitz to the gap.

Good point - our guards are always off the ball.

What ends up happening as the RG steps right is the DL has been taught to mirror his steps - their intent is to occupy the RG - he isn't taking a gap he's just occupying that RG so he can't get to his gap. I picked this out on film study last night - we have a series of teams that all run the same defense - as these coaches all coached together in the past.

I'm wondering how to avoid the situation where we'd end up trying to block two guys - the one over us and the one to our assigned gap.

I guess you'd try to hand it down somehow?
