Coaches,
I'm curious how you feel about running that gun option offense from empty, much like utah did. i think there are many benefits, but you also saw the QB having to be very mobile and make great throws. There is also the protection problems with an empty set. I did like the motion from the slot to attain the oneback set they ran most of the gun offense from. Seems you could base out of empty and have a few simple formation tags to add trips and a doubles look. Am I wrong in thinking you could get the defense to cover one receiver with two defenders to the weakside in trips? Very vanilla fronts/coverage might be the best benefit of all. Do the positives outweigh the negatives?
