Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
installation books and articles have backs and qb's at 5 yards, with backs shading their respective guards. i have viewed cut-ups of utah and the qb's heels are at 4 1/2 and the back's toes are at 5yds and behind the tackles. aside from the obvious differences in athletic ability between hs and college, are there any logical explanations for the change in alignment
Interesting... I'm wondering if it might make the option mesh a little easier if the RB was slightly behind the QB as you say. The RB is attacking more 'down-hill' that way... and it might make the mesh point of the option a little smoother.
Are you still snowed in up there in the land of the best white tail buck hunting you will ever find? That and Bass fishing are the only things in this world, IMO, that come close to coaching football! What province do live in again? I once caught a big great northern pike and would love to fish them as well in Canada someday before I head for that big gridiron in the sky. Also love to trout fish and would love to get back in your interior streams and do that some day. Pretty fair with a fly rod after 50 years of practice and I really love to fly fish for trout.

Yep... still dealing with snow. We had a nice 6-8" fall Sunday... with some freezing rain; which is now mostly slush - lovely stuff to shovel and weighs a ton!
I'm in Ontario - you gotta do a 'Fly-In' fishing trip one day up North! My grandfather used to go every year with his buddies from the Legion - and they said you could basically scoop them in. I once caught a lake record bass at a place when I was a kid... left my rod on the dock... and amazingly when my Dad came to help me reel it in (I was 7!)... the rod was still there.
Pike are great fish and put up a nice fight.
I'll have to send you an email this week... maybe later tonite... got some ides to run past you!
I know that we saw a big improvement in our run game when we set the back 1/2 yard behind the QB. Made the handoff meshes easier and the RB had better vision.
Do you guys adjust the alignment of the RB on plays like trap/dive where hitting the whole quickly is of much importance? I am basically sold on moving my RB at least 1/2 yard behind my QB for the Zone Read play, but I can see that alignment being a hindrance on quick hitting plays up the middle or when the RB has to pick up a Firing Inside LB. I am also a little concerned about tendencies.
