I have really been considering going to this years COOL clinic. If my budget allows I will attend it. This would be my 1st time attending a COOL clinic.
I go every year. Its the best OL Clinic. These guys are great wjhen it comes to spending time with you. The night before, the roundtable is the best part.
Bob Wylie is the Man!
IF anyone needs tapes let me know. I would be willing to get them for you.

5wide,
I sent you an email last night. The service that I used to email you has a tendancy to foul up at times...so if you could let me know if you recieved the message I would really appreciate it. If the message didnt go through then I will use my yahoo account to email you. thanks coach
This clinic sounds like the real deal. There is no way I can go (live in Southern Calfornia) but I would be very interested in acquiring tapes of the clinic. How or who would I talk to so that I could purchase the tapes. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I am pretty sure that all of the COOL Clinic tapes will be on sale in Ohio 1996-2004... They will all be on DVD though I am trying to save enough money to buy all of them at one time ....If that happens then I would be glad to share with my fellow coaches
You are either coaching it or allowing it to happen!</blockquote>
I would be interested as well in either obtaining a tape of Russ Grimm's topic and/or notes as well. I cannot attend because of my commitment to the semi-pro team's schedule that I work with. Please let me know what is needed for copies of these items.
We have communicated via email recently. I coach on the semi-pro level in northern New York. I have the greatest respect for you, sir, as a coach and a man of God. Thank you for the information you shared with all of the coaches here at the forum. Bill Mountjoy also has my greatest respect as well.

The COOL clinic was outstanding!! I wasnt able to attend the Friday night chalk talk but from what I heard it was great as well. I believe Bob Wylie said that there were coaches from 39 different states in attendance. The last speaker was Russ Grimm and it was defenitly worth waiting to see him. He provieded some great info on organizing your running game in the off season and some great stuff on how to get your players to buy in to your system. Russ Grimm is DA MAN!! Sorry but I wasnt able to buy the tapes. Maybe BlackFly was able to order them. I wish I could have met BlackFly at the clinic. Anyway the clinic was great and I would defenitly recommend buying or trading for the tapes of the clinic.
Yes, of course! I answer upward of 300 emails a week from coaches all over our country and Europe and Australia as well and I have these senior moments where I go into "brain freeze" mode I guess. We just won our preseason opener last night, feeling good today! When do y'all start? What League are you in again? Is it the EFL?

The friday night chalk talks were great. We got in around 1pm Friday and walked around downtown Cincinnati. It seemed like a really nice city!
Andy Moeller from Michigan spoke about how they teach and drill double teams.
Jim Bollman from OSU spoke about his newer method of teaching drive blocking. He's got them clapping their hands on the 1st step - and this helps focus their hands inside for the punch phase. He also has his guys bringing their hips forward past their feet on the first step - because of harder charging DL. It was a really interesting idea!
Tim Davis from USC (now the Dolphins) spoke about his run block teaching progression. He started out in a normal sort of voice, but after a minute or so he was defintely WORKING up there. You can NEVER question his enthusiasm and energy - the man spoke with passion.
John, if you want my notes from Friday I'll try and type them up for you - it was a good session and the Q&A after was good too. It would have been nice to meet you too - but its tough when there's a few hundred other coaches in the room. I'm hoping to make it a yearly thing - It was great to get some new ideas, and have some of the things I am teaching be affirmed as well. Perhaps we can set something up for next year.
I was able to get the drill collection, and I ordered the clinics on DVD as well. Although they should be here in about 3 weeks.
They set up a website thecoolclinic.com and I believe you can also order previous clinics on DVDs from the site - the ENTIRE collection (I think about 50 DVD's) since 1996 is about $350.
