I have long entertained thoughts about conducting a one day clinic that has absolutely nothing to do with X and 0's. It would deal with topics that are so often asked about here on the forum I really believe we could get a great turnout. I am talking about a clinic that would address many of the topics that you inquire almost daily here on the board; topics such as how to deal with unruly parents that think their son is definitely can't miss ALL AMERICAN material, when in actuality he can't walk and chew gum at the same time! Or how to deal with ways to turn around a perennial losing program and make it a winner! Or how to establish ways of tutoring your players that you really need but they are struggling academically? Ways to not get blinsided on report card day with failing grades from your best player! Or many different SUCCESSFUL WAYS to raise cash for your coffers for new equipment, or badly needed new uniforms, etc. Or how to deal with the really good athlete who has that totally unacceptable "me-me" attitude and is at the point of being cut for the sake of team morale and discipline! How to instill and maintain self and team discipline in a way the modern athlete can fully understand and appreciate?
As an Ordained Minister, as well as, a football coach I discovered long ago that the best and most productive meetings of any type are the ones where full audience participation is welcomed and encouraged! I envison an open floor platform with a panel of well experienced and well informed senior coaches to conduct the days "clinic". Then, at a hospitality that evening which will be included in the admission price of the clinic, in a relaxed atmosphere we can sit around and talk the x and o's until the close of the evening. If you would be interested in attending a clinic of this nature, please post back and let me know your feelings. I have had to turn down several clinic invitations this year due to my really loaded schedule, which I absolutely hated to do, but there is just no way schedule wise I could meet the dates. I am in the process of building a team from the ground up to be ready to compete this year, and are just now entering our 17th week of off season preparation. So, as you can see I will need ample time to prepare but am very willing to do it if y'all are interested. Please post back and give me your thoughts.
