Coaches,

I'm a flexbone guy who wants to put in a gun package for my QB next year. I want to run IV, Mid, Speed and Jet out of the flexbone gun. I was wondering if anyone could advise me on blocking rules and backfield actions for these plays. Trick is, I don't want to zone it. We are an under center option team and I don't want to teach our kids zone progression. I think it's too much for them. Can anyone offer any help.

His version of the option out of the gun is much closer to what it sounds like you're looking for. Good luck.

Have you thought about reading the frontside end on a fb trap to the backside. It gives you different look than IV out of the gun. I have not seen true midline run out of the gun yet. I think he line splits would need to be expanded to four to five feet if thje dt goes to a 1 or 2i auto pull and replace.
