Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I'm installing the DW this year to 10 & 11 yr olds and am interested in opinions on the counter XX. I've seen it run three different ways:
1. Toss to the MB and a hand of to the Counter back. 2. Hand off to the MB and handoff to the Counter back. 3. Toss to the MB and toss to the Counter back.
I'm assuming I should start the play off with a toss since thats how I'm going to run my Super Power Series plays. This play looks deadly, but I want to implement it the right way.
Also, should I have my blockers block the same direction just as if they were running Super Power so the Counter can be sold?
I don't run the DW, I run the SW so I could be wrong here.
I would suggest that your backfield motion look the same as the play you are trying to mimic(power).
But you should block the play for the counter(trap) , not the power (I'm assuming the play ends up on the weak side).
The age group your coaching (and probably the other coaches) will never pick up on your blocking scheme. They will be flowing towards backfield motion though.
