The past three years, we've lost the 9-10 league championship game to a team that runs a offense like this:

WR T G C G T WR
QB
FB
HB HB

* They don't run the option
* Their bread and butter play is a power sweep with thw WR cracking back on the DE w/ the FB and HB lead blocking

The offense looks simple to defend but we've had a tough time stopping them. We run a base 6-2. Any suggestions or other formations would be greatly apppreciated.

So let me explain it: It's basically 2 wideouts with NO Tightends, out of the wishbone formation.

Who has sweep contain responsibilities in your D ?

If Dend, have CB switch responsibilities to contain. Have Dend fight off crack and slide down into C gap protection with OLB switching to D gap responsibilities.

You also might look at the 3-5-3 or the 3-3 stacked. That would work very well against this set.

In our 6-2, our DE has contain responsibilities. He gets crack-backed, and our CB gets double teamed (creamed) by the FB and playside HB.

You guys have game me some great suggestions! I feel like an idiot for stubbornly staying in my base 6-2! Hopefully after we install the 5-3 or 30 stack we'll finally be able to get over the hump and beat these guys!
