Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are conducting our registration for our youth football season and one thing that is done is that we require all coaches to fill an application to coach. The returning coaches, I pretty much have a basis on how to determine their return by what they did in the previous season i.e. did this coach communicate the goals and ideas of the league, did they treat the kids fair, etc. One of our Coaches Selection Committee Members is pushing for an interview process. In the past, it was based on references but I am strongly considering the interview process. My question to all of you, is what would be some good questions to ask to determine new coaches?

In our franchise we ask 7 questions to the aplicant. 1 Why do you want to coach? 2 What positive things can you bring to the team? 3 If a parent has a problem with you, how are you going to deal with it?
4 Are you prepared to give up the time it takes to coach, including scouting on weekends we do not play?
5 If asked, are you willing to coach at another level, other than the one you are applying for?
6 If you have a son on the team, can you separate the father son relationship durring practice and game time? 7 Are you willing to follow the wishes of the head coach and the board? We also have a back ground check that we inform the aplicant we will look into. Some of the things are: felony convictions
crimes involving children, domestic charges and crimes involving drug use etc.
Coach P - again, great job with the camp. I'm looking forward to seeing you in action in a few weeks as well. Seriously, there's a lot I hope to learn from you as a coach.

Thanks for input, those are some really good questions. And I believe it is agreed from many of you that background checks are becoming an automatic process in this day of youth sports. Thanks again for the input, I look forward to hearing more of what you to say in this great forum.

How many youth coaches run spin trap and the option off same? I coach 6th graders and I am pondering about putting it in the playbook. We already run triple option and midline and this would be a natural extension. The QB footwork is what troubles me.
Can you tell me what the "spin trap" is as I'm not familiar with that term? I did run some midline and inside veer with my team (10-12 year olds) last season. We didn't use an inside trap last season. Our only play that involved a trap block was pulling a backside guard on a counter to our fullback which was very successful for us. I'm planning on putting the trap in this season, running it to the tight side and pulling our backside guard and tackle (depending on the defensive front) on our counter again. Although I plan on trying some option game again this year, our initial success was due solely to having a terrific athlete at the quarterback position which I'm afraid we will not see again any time soon.

Fullback runs his midline steps and the qb spins to his right, gives to the fb and continues down the right side of the LOS. Can also run the option off of same. The backside Guard traps EMOL.
