i'm working with a 10 yr old QB and i've got questions about the size of football we're using. right now our league uses medium size footballs, which my QB can throw pretty well. the question i have is if using a bigger football would help/hurt him in anyway as far as mechanics go. i wouldn't want him to lose some of his throwin form because he's trying to compensate for the size of the football. if any of you out there have any experience with this i'd really appreciate some feedback. thanks in advance.

Coach, our league uses Youth sized balls for our 10-12 year old age group. This size ball is also used by both 7th and 8th graders in our program as well. Unless he has very small hands I would try this size. We've used this size since the inception of our league and although some kids may throw a Junior size ball a little better initially, I can't remember any of them having a problem adapting to the slightly larger size of the Youth version.
This ball would be a Wilson TDY or GST Youth size, the Nike 2000Y or the MacGregor Youth size.

yeah coach, i'm using the nike ball myself. he seems to be picking everything up just the same. he was complaining about the size of the ball, as his distance was less with the larger ball, but i think he's coming along just fine. thanks for the advice.
