This may seem like a stupid question but I have a concern about running the inside zone out of a
Off-set I, 3 receiver set. I'm worried about penetration from the back side. If anyone has a suggestion on the best way to do this it would be much appreciated.
I played Qb long enough to know that I want a HAT PUT ON THAT BACKSIDE END and do not want to rely on any fake being able to hold him and stopping him from making a blindside hit on me or the RB. You can motion to him and block him, or you can devise a scheme that allows SOMEONE to put a hat on him. But, however you choose to do it, do it. Those who tell you that a good fake can be relied upon, certainly not intending to demean anyone here, have never played QB at any higher level than high school. I say that because the quickness displyed by DE's at the next level is absolutely amazing. Just my opinion as always.

The SUCKER series is basically a 1-back inside zone series that Minnesota runs. It comes off Orbit motion with the WR to the side of the IZ run.
You can:
a) hand it off to the RB
b) run the reverse with the WR (a 'naked' reverse)
c) run a QB keep off the IZ/Reverse action
d) run Playaction.
Coach Illustrated used to have an article by Glen Mason on it with some video clips. If you can't find it there send me a PM and I will try and see if I have any notes on it for you.
