Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
This question is mainly for those who run the IZ/OZ as their basic run play. What type of stance do you teach for your linemen? By this, I mean do you have them start with their feet even with each other? Or do you have a toe-instep, toe-heel alignment? Also, do have them with their heels flat or elevated? What do you do with the off hand? Hand on thigh? Elbow on thigh? Thanks for your help.
1. Feet shoulder width apart.
2. Drop down & put elbows on knees.
3. Head up.
4. Put all 5 finger tips on the ground - align little finger up with big toe.
5. TACKLES = toe to heel stagger, & GUARDS = toe to instep.
6. Shoulders square.
7. Look thru eyebrow.
8. Heels slightly off ground and weight on inside of feet.
NOTE: In firing out - first step should be 1/2 way to little finger, & second step should be beyond first step (NEVER BEHIND IT).

To build on what oneback has mentioned another thing to add with it is to turn the heels and and point the toes slightly in this will balance the weight distribution. Coach CAmpbell
Thank you very much for your info. One more question for you guys. What is the best installation video for the IZ/OZ? I have the Gibbs' tapes already. I don't feel that he offers very much techinque, more philosophy. I heard Russ Grimm has a very good video. I'm looking for footwork and hand placements and drills. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The tape SERIES by Jim McNally & Anthony Munoz was very good.
They made about 12 tapes. Call SYSKOS Sports Books & Videos, & find out which ones pertained to the Zone plays. We got a lot out of them when I was coaching in College, but I do not have them now.

They are called "MASTERS OF BLOCKING VIDEOS" by MUNOZ & McNALLY
ALSO: Call John Widcan at 513-566-0591 & ask him which "COOL" clinic videos are best on Zone blocking. He can get them for you! The series is fantastic!
PS: Russ Grimm didn't talk about ZONE BLOCKING. He talked about the Counter/Power series! They have them back several years. This was LAST YEAR (John can tell you which ones you need):
