Offensive Line Depth

Saw a guy speak at a couple of clinics about the spread option. They have their lineman line up with their hands even with the center's feet. Seems awful deep, didn't hear an explaination as for why and I am curious? Is that depth going to need to be adjusted when we run power, counter, iso, trap...

Any thoughts?
