Has anyone tried widening out their slots and using the playside slot as the pitchback using a cowboy technique like in gun where the playside slot jsut backs up and gets in a pitch relationship, I understand that this gives a little less of a seal on the PSLB but has anyone tried this, its similar to what a lot of people are doing in gun and it won't give away any motion tendencies. I think it could work, just looking for anyone that has done this. Thanks
I have done this but only out of trips. You have to account for the safety running the alley. Contrary to popular opinion the veer action slant pass is not enough usually.

We have done it and had run the other slot motion over and he becomes the blocker on the playside LBer. It helps to set up our play action out of the run and shoot.
Good reasoning COACH I . We run it out of trips in order to handle the scenario described above verses the alle guy! It will still work with other approaches, provided you have the right personnel to make it go!

we run a spread flex inwhich we motion our end full speed back across the field and turn the triple into a FB, pitch, end around or keep option. We have double wide ends, both slots six to seven out, fullback normal goes over guard, bring the left slot right at snap right split end in motion, gives you three very quick options within a secoind or two of one another,
the hand off is a precall unless the QB reads an "open" field and keeps, the left slot will lead block and the original playside slot will take his man back across the line for a quick slant pattern.
