Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Could someone explain 6 man pass protection in the 1 back offense? I'm referring to where the center, guard & tackle slide in one direction and the other guard, tackle & back block opposite. My question is how do you determine in which direction the above goes (left or right) since you have 3 blockers on both sides? Hope I made my self clear. Thanks!
we like to slide to the side we anticipate blitz because the non-slide side is manned up. This is based on game plan. If everything is equal, we slide to the QB's backside (i.e. right handed qb = slide left). That gives us the feeling that if any problems occur, they will come from the qb's frontside. When we do our quick passing from a one-back set, this becomes a 5 man protection unless we adjust the back alignment. Now, it is more important to secure one side so that the quarterback knows that if blitz comes from that frontside LB, he has to react - but the backside is safe. We have a couple techniques to help the two man side attempt to block three potential rushers - more like slow down the three rushers enough to get the ball out.
The way we respond to adversity is a direct expression of our character.
