We are a flexbone team that have hung our hat on inside veer and midline. Because of the defenses we are starting to see, I am thinking of adding the outside veer from the heavy formation (heavy right - move the left tackle over next to the right tackle to over load the right side). My question - what is the blocking rule for the playside wing-back and the playside split end?
We run a ton of outside veer and g-belly to the tightend wing side of the flexbone. If the playside wing is the number one receiver to his side(count from asideline to the formation) we have him block the deep half or third player. If he is the number two receiver(there is a split end outside him) he is to seal block inside lb to safety.
We use this on inside veer as well. This has made it easier for our wings and we always have an extra blocker on the inside lb. (the extra lineman, or the wing)
