Coaches I have an equipment question. My son is moving on to high school football this fall. When he was in Pop Warner, I bought him a "Hit Proof Compression Suit" that is sold by Phenom Factory (www.phenomfactory.com). As a quarterback, he liked the lightness of the suit and pads. He didn't like the protective vest because it felt restricting. I allowed him to wear the "Suit" during that time because the level of hitting wasn't that bad. Now, as a fourteen year old at 5'7" and a slight 133 pounds, I'm reluctant to buy another suit for him because in high school, these guys are bigger, stronger and will hit harder.
Does anyone out there have an opinion about the suit? I spoke with my son's high school coach and he had never heard of the suit since no one had ever worn one at that school, nor had he seen it before.
I played football for six years and coached for 11. Honestly, I've never heard of the suit. In addition, do you really want your son playing football wearing one of those things you have just described. Imagine what the high school kids would call him. LOSE THE SUIT, DUDE.
