Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Last year we had 70+ kids come out for our JV program. Normally this would be GREAT, but we only have enough equipment for about 45-50 JV players MAX. Plus I'm not blessed with a ton of assistants or volunteers.
In my situation you rarely know who is coming into HS until the first days of school.
I was wondering if any of you coaches has drills you do to determine who the better players are in a situation like this: you've only got a few days to decide, and you've got NO equipment.
Last year I went through a block progression with the linemen, and found some decent kids. I think the 1st 2 days we'll be without pads - anyone who misses will not be able to play. I'll probably run a mini-camp type atmosphere - lots of circuits/fundamental drills etc.
Problem was most of them were in Grade 10... so we only have 1 returning linemen for our JV team. Last year was an unusually high number of kids turning out - usually the JV team has had to scrape for kids not equipment. But I want to be prepared this year
Our JV team could be good. We're stacked at 'skill positions' - have a FB/MLB coming from Texas (his brother is a QB/OLB and will be varsity). Just need the big guys... and we're a building program. Most of these skill guys spend all year long in our S&C program WHILE playing soccer/bball, track & field, etc.
Just can't afford to 'miss' a good athlete or football player. I hate to 'run em off' because sometimes that keeps away the bigger guys - and right now we need em.
I've thought about keeping a few extra kids that I wouldn't have equipment for (a 'taxi' squad)... but I'm unsure how to work that - it was never a problem where I have coached/played.
