Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We do our tackling stations everyday. We do goalline, angle, eyeopener, and openfield tackling everyday in practice. However, in our two scrimmages we are diving at folks, not wrapping up and running through anyone. We do not do this in practice, just in the games. How can we get more carryover onto the game field?
In 1999, I attended a football clinic at Montclair State University. Fred Stengel, who was, and still is, the Head Football Coach at Bergen Catholic (usually a USA Today Top 25 ranked team) said the following: "90 percent of tackling is INTENSITY and 10 percent of tackling is knowing how to tackle." Look at your player's INTENSITY when they tackle and take it from there.
Denny Marcin, NY Jets Defensive Line Coach says that tackling should be taught in the following manner:
1. ATTACK ball carrier (Eyes up)
2. Chest-to-chest contact
3. Up and through (Shoot the Arms Upward)
He said that is all you need to stress to your athletes on tackling.
I hope this helps and hopefully you can correct this issue.

Coaching the offensive tackles and wondering why he had to coach the wings on punt team. Bill, that was an AWESOME experience. He and McNally are awesome guys, who gave me access to things that they did not need to do. I have two friends for life now! I hope all is going well with you down there in Richmond, Bill.

I knew McNally well years ago, but had not kept in touch with him since roughly 1991! Larry & I go back to around 1980, & used to work Dan Henning's "Pro Specialist" Camp together (5 years).
