If they release BOTH ends, toss the ball to the RB, AND send the QB out - there will be FREE RUSHERS to the RB! Pass protecting this defense is a NIGHTMARE to offenses.
Even though it is a FULL BACKFIELD DEFENSE - you CAN run it on ONE side vs the Pro I. I do not have time to get into ALL of the potential "what-if's" but I'll give you the BASICS, & you will have to work the rest out for yourself (OR call me at 804-740-4479):
Adjusted to Pro-I:
--C--------------------------F--------------C
-------------------B-----B
-------------V--V-----V----V-V--S/S
X---------------O-O-C-O-O-Y
----------------------Q----------------------Z
----------------------F
----------------------T
IF DIAGRAM SHIFTS - IT IS A STRAIGHT UP 5-2! DLM HEAD UP ON BOTH TACKLES & CENTER. ALSO STANDUP MAN HEAD UP ON Y!
Corners = M/M on X & Z (note: if Z motions over to the SE side, OR, lines up over there in the slot - the Corner just goes with him; simple adjustments).
F/S = M/M on Y (make it look like Cover 3 & cheat over & down LATE)
S/S = 2 yds outside Y ON LOS - crash as in basic Okie Dog Pinch
6 techniques on Y = same as basic Okie Dog Pinch
4 technique on Strong OT = same as basic Okie Dog Pinch
ILB on TE side = same as Okie Dog Pinch
Nose = same as Okie Dog Pinch
ILB on SE side =- basic 5-2 LBer play (straight). M/M on firss back out weak.
4 technique on SE side = BASE 4 technique (no pinch).
6 technique ("ghost") on Se side = BASE 6 technique (CAN CRASH & SQUEEZE CONTAIN)
VERY good hash mark defense (with Y/Z to wide field). Also vs teams that are heavy on run to TE side (it was GREAT vs the OUTSIDE VEER in the "old" Houston Veer offense).
NOTE: CANNOT be run vs ONEBACK sets (like the FLEXBONE, etc.)!
Sorry I have no more time to type. Any questions should be addressed by PHONE to 804-740-4479 (before 10 AM/EDT).
Best wishes!
