Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
This has probably already been discussed but let’s review. Should High School Football Players receive "special" privileges? Are High School Athletes "special?" If not then does football send the wrong message? No other sport has thousands of people packed into a stadium to witness THEIR superior physical abilities. When I was in high school it was not uncommon for coaches to get teachers to give football players more time to turn in assignments, give players a test a couple of days earlier than the rest of the students or even change grades. Of course it is morally wrong, but it happens all the time and it seems as if the only thing that benefits is the program. It is the PLAYERS who pack the stadiums across the country. Boosters contribute thousands of dollars each year to their respected programs because of the TEAM. I’m not here to say that players necessarily SHOULD have special privileges; I’m just saying that I understand the balancing act that many of these young men have to deal with.

To me, privileges accorded athletes such as you mention, coach, on the high school level are totally inappropriate! Granted, I'm 65 years old, but when I went to HS there were no such privileges!!! There was none of this coaches talking to the teachers to improve a grade to keep a youngster eligible, special times for athletes to take tests, etc. YOU EITHER MADE THE GRADE HONESTLY THE OLD FASHONED WAY BY WORKING FOR IT, OR YOU DID NOT GET IT, PERIOD! This story about " well, he is not going to amount to anything if he is not allowed to play football" is garbage to me. If he can't earn the grade, then he needs to be in remedial classes, being tutored, devoting extra time to his studies so that he can earn the grade! He needs to know that athletics are a privilege and not just some right that all get! Our system of rewarding athletes has gotten so out of hand it is pathetic. If you will look at our society today verses pre-second world war days, you will see the gigantic erosion that has taken place in every facet of our lives from internal moral decay to outright rebellion by our children. If things are not restored to a state of normalcy on the HS level, then we have no hope of it ever getting any better. We are all aware of the stuff that goes on in the name of winning at the college and pro levels, and I am of the opinion that the one bastion we have left to right things is the HS level athlete and his correct upbringing. I have coached at all levels mentioned and feel qualified to make these statements. It seems that where we were once world leaders in athletics, we are now reduced to use of illegal drugs in order to win in international competiton, i.e. TOUR DE FRANCE, TRACK & FIELD as evidenced by the ousting of the American who won the cycling event and the athlete who won in track recently. Both found guilty of steroid use. Really speaks well of us, doesn't it?

Special priveliges? are u kidding. I agree with the above post about football being the greatest privelige a high school athlete could ever have. It's up to him to take advantage of it. The "missions" of any football program have been discussed on this board time and time again. Nowhere has any coach said that a FB player should get an edge because he is a FB player. What about band members? In a different capacity, they dedicate themselves to something that is meaningful to them - special priveliges to them? i dont think so?
i have football players that can barely make D's and stay eligible and I have a pregnant girl in my class who never misses school and has an "A" in my class. That girl is carrying around a baby and is one month away from delivery and is much more worthy of a special privelige and has never asked for anything. I love my FB players but i wish they possessed the character that this girl has.
In life, I have not received a ton of special priveliges - but i have received a ton of opportunity and feel like i have taken advantage of it. that is what i want my players to learn!
