Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I love the concept of running triple option out of shotgun. What would you think about running a pistol( about 3 1/2 yeards from center)type formation with 1 back, 2 slots and 2WR and putting the running back behind the QB instead off to the side. I would do this so i could check either the play to the best look side without moving anyone. What would be the pros and cons of this? I would have a pitch man by either the playside slot stepping back or by faking jet motion and the jet man bending back and getting in pitch relationship. Thanks for the help
i am a head coach in louisiana. we are currently running the pistol option offense. we run it very similar to air force or other double slot option teams. we just backed up the qb and rb. we run 4 plays.
triple option
double option
counter trey option
speed sweep
although we run 4 plays we mix the plays together. example: speed sweep/counter trey
Coaches
This has been done for a lot years. It was called the Single Wing offense. Check out Mike Rude's video on Single Wing it has it in it. They run midline and veer out of the gun. The more the game changes the more it remains the same, just coaches stealing concepts and calling it their own. Coaches need to remember the history of the game and give credit where credit is due.
