Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are having difficulty with our option game this season. We are a double slot-double split team. We motion on most plays, but we are having trouble with teams overplaying to our motion side. We having a counter option in, but it doesn't slow teams down as much as I would like.
Our biggest problem has been that our FB is getting tackled by the read man almost all the time. The QB does get a give read, but then the DE tackles our FB from behind for a 3-yard gain. Then we have one negative play per series and then the 3 yard per play doesn't keep us going. We use the point method if this matters. Is the problem that our fullback isn't moving fast enough? It seems that the hole is there and then it closes quickly.
The point method will only help, not hinder! You hit the nail on the head, you need a new FB! If he can't hit the hole quick enough, your dead in the water. Put him at 4 yds off the ball (knuckles) and make him EXPLODE to the ball.

We have harped on bigger splits for so long our guys have finally started listening. However, we now have split that are so big the o-linemen are on an island, and our fb has too far to get to his aiming point. We closed our splits back down to 2.5, 2.5, 2.5 and it has helped the fb get through the hole better. The combos on plays like counter are better as well.
Agree wholeheartedly! Big splits do exactly what you said, put your man, as well as, his opponent on an island. THE BIGGER THE SPlITS, THE DEEPER THE PENETRATION! Just my opinion perhaps, but I don't think so.
