Another pretty interesting thing that can be done with the midline option vs. a 3 technique tackle in a 4-3 defense is a sort of iso trap. If you have a good runner at quarterback this can be a devastating play for a defense expecting the qb to attack the edge after the midline read. Block it just like the midline option but pull the BSG and have him trap the 3 technique. Then, have the qb ride the fb and follow his but directly through the playside A gap. The fb acts as a lead blocker and the odds of springing the qb into the secondary are pretty high. In some instances, strong safeties see option and fly to the alley right away so your fb may not even have anyone to block until he reaches the free safety, an obvious mismatch.
