This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coaches, I am a new and inexperienced coach who is trying to learn the game. I was wondering where I can obtain information on the OLine blocking rules for running the triple option. I am not an OL coach, but I am very interested in learning the Oline. I would like to thank in advance anyone who can help me with this information!
I am mainly wanting to focus on Inside/Outside Veer Option, as well as Midline, Counter and Belly Option. I am interested in running them from a flexbone formation.
I am many years away from being a HC, but am eager to learn as much as possible in the meantime.
kc361,
What do you mean by the center reaching? Is he stepping playside to help the PSG?
Nicholson,
How did the Chip and Scoop work? The way that I taught combo blocking didn't work, and I'm looking to maybe go more with the old fashioned scoop block next season. How'd you drill it?
If the SAM is the pitch key, what happens if you get a GIVE read from the DE and then the SAM is in the hole?
For us, the "REACH" portion of the center's rule means that he will reach block a DL in the A-gap. So whether the DL is shading on his shoulder, in the gap, or on the inside shoulder of the PSG, he will reach block that defender. Coupled with the PSG's rule of "1st DL," the C and PSG will ALWAYS combo on an A-gap DL to a LB on the midline or backside.
Sure. We have a perimeter scheme for every run support system that we have faced. In general, in the 4-3, the DE is the dive key and the OLB (Sam or Will) is the pitch key. However, some teams play the OLB on the veer path of the RB and he plays dive to QB, while the secondary is playing a real aggressive Sky support to the pitch. In this case, we have the PSHB (or slotback) block the OLB and we pitch off the safety who is screaming up in run support. When the OLB starts playing more aggressively, then we hit a pop pass to the HB right behind him. Only the BS safety, who is probably rotating over can make the play.
