Can anyone tell me the origin of the tradition where everyone on the sideline holds up four fingers between the 3rd & 4th quarters. Obviously, I understand what it signifies but I am curious when and where it started.

I often thought about starting a new one: As the first five minutes of the first and third quarters are essential to getting old mo on your side and having things go your way, I thought it would be different to hold up 5 fingers at the start of each of those quarters. Think it would catch on?
