Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Depending upon what offensive formation you run it from ( I'll use the basic "I" for this example) QB releases at 4 o clock, fakes dive in the B gap to FB, takes one additional step and pivots back 180 degrees and comes down LOS to whatever gap you want to run and gives to RB. Prior to his getting the ball RB takes a big jab step to the side the FB is going and then cuts back to the opposite side he is going to run. Really very simple and we have run it for years! Just draw it up against any base defense that you see the most and fill in the backs steps and it will become readily apparent to you.

My iron clad rule of thumb is never run a counter AWAY from the TE. It is a good way to get your QB killed. We used to pull a guard but in this day of everyone reading keys it only brings the defense to the hole you are running the counter in! Running the speed option to the backside after pivoting 180 and coming back down the LOS and if you are reading the BSDE and not blocking him, it would appear to me that he would be in your face much to quickly to react favorably. Just my opinion as always. Now, if you hit upon some such timing as to where you could pitch to the RB as soon as you complete your 180 pivot and get the ball in his hands soon enough, it may work. Experiment with it and see what happens would be my suggestion. Of course, if I'm defending that type of thing I would just tell my WILL LB to be disciplined, stay home and fill where the BSDE vacates from and your dead in the water unless, like I say, you can pitch early.

Tiger good response One way to do this though is from the gun and challenge the inside release of the tackle with the tight end arching to the outside invert. It is possible that the 7 tech. alaigned on the tight end may close with the down block of the tackle where most 7 techs. get the run key from. This will allow from a two back gun for the QB to run speed option away from the openside counter. Good play. Hope you are doing well. Coach CAmpbell
Doing well so far, been 14 months the 26th of Nov. since the "night of the incident" as I call it. My doctors are well pleased with my progress, keeping my weight at 150 lbs (what I weighed in high school almost) and consulting with coaches all over the country and Europe and Australia to keep my hand in. Writing a series on your site entitled "installing the Empty gun" under the topic INSTALLING THE PASSING GAME. Started it on the Nov 9th and we ar on the 6th page at this point. Have generated some good interest at this point.
Thanks for the info on the question at hand, appreciate it.

Tiger I to have been through some rough times this year. Rough football season and have had some bad health problems that I hope I can over come. Glad you are doing fine and keep up the great job on the forums (you're amazing) Coach CAmpbell
Sure sorry to hear that coach. But, with the health problems, I took a page from my QB manual and treated them like I teach my QB's to handle a blitz! Don't panic in the face of life threatening health situations but accept them, and treat them as a learning experience that can turn into a big play for you, put your faith and your life in the hands of the Lord and live each day as it comes. He has taught me so much in these 14 months! To really appreciate the things in life that are really important ( family & God)
and to be much more tolerant of those who are ill than I have been in the past. When the doctors were coming in almost dailywith negative reports about my condition, it would have been easy to say " I give up"
but I didn't. I reached out to the Lord and accpeted His will for my life, whatever that may be. AS my condiiton started to improve, they couldn't believe it. They fully expected me not to make it through the first night as my heart had dropped to a 25% working level. They told me that anything below 30 % is accute danger with death imminent. But, you know what, within 48 hours my rating was back up over 40%
and they couldn't believe it. God says when your time is over here, not the doctors. I most certainly appreciate their fantastic efforts to save me that night and following days, and I know the good Lord used them to help me! I have a fatal liver disease that there is no cure for, but you know what? I live each day as it comes, thankful for each and everyone! I go fishing, I just drove 2300 miles on a month long vacation without incident. When I left the hospital I was on 8 pills a day! For a guy who hardly ever took an aspirin, literally, that was hard for me. But, I have been on only one heart maintenance drug for a year now and a daily vitamin! That is given to me in the weakest dose they make of the pill. So, fight back coach, keep the faith and let God lead you and guide you. He will never leave you nor forsake you, even unto the ends of the world!!! I am going to start praying for you without ceasing until I hear a good report from you. Count on it. I ask all the Christian coaches here on the board to do the same. PRAYER CHANGES THINGS!!!

No truer words were ever spoken. I can witness to the fact that the devoted prayers of both Coach Easton and Mrs. Easton have helped my own wife overcome her own health problems. I believe that there is no stronger cure than the power of prayer and belief in the healing powers of the Lord and the Holy Spirit. Coach Campbell, please rest assured that I will pray for your return to good health, and ask the Lord to bless you with many more years.

Overthehill, AJAZ - Thank you very much for the encouragement these next few coming months should be very interesting. I'm like Coach Easton never sick a day in my life and all of a sudden I get this wake up call. I will head to MD Anderson in Houston soon to have them take care of the problem. You guys are great and keep up the great job. Coach CAmpbell
Coach Campbell,
Your message board has been a HUGE help to me as I have gotten into coaching. Thank you so much. I tell you now along with Tiger One, that God uses our prayers tremendously, and I will be praying for you as you cross these deep waters. I hope you are able to get well soon, and that you may get to know our gracious Savior even better through this difficulty.
Thanks and prayers,
Jon Bunton
