Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I am an aspiring OC and have been doing some reading on the subject of play call sheets. My questions are these...
How detailed do you break down your down and distance calls on your playsheet? Do you include all downs? (1st, 2nd L/M/S, 3rd L/M/S, 4th L/M/S)
And my main question....What process do you go thru to decide what plays you want where? What makes a 2nd and Medium a 2nd and Medium type play? Philosophy? Field Position? What?
Coach go back and evaluate the last season or last few seasons and analyze just how many different situations you see on average. When I did this for the Program I was with before this year I found we would see the following situations and their frequency during the game.
24.1 Openers 1st and 10
1.9 2nd and Short (1-2)
4.8 2nd and Medium (3-6)
11.4 2nd and Long (7+)
1.9 3rd and short
3.6 3rd and medium
5.5 3rd and long
0.7 4th and short
0.7 4th and medium
1.2 4th and long
1.4 2 point
57.2 Total
Now I know atleast how much offense I should be prepared for. Other considerations would be if my opponent adjusts based on situatiuons. If they stay in a base D then that cuts down on what yopu need to prepare.
Have a 8 ½ x 14 sheet (“Ready List”), with the runs listed in the left column, and the passes listed in the right column. Listed in the following categories in this order:
Coach, do you have a copy of that play call sheet you could email me? I would really appreciate it. I used one last year, but I don't like the way it is set up.
You just draw a vertical line down the middle of the page (runs in left column & passes in right column), then put horizontal lines to seperate each "situation" (deep enough for about 3-4 plays). Otherwise it looks just like I have it posted. We put it on 8 1/2 x 14" sheet (not 8 1/2 x 11). Don't have a way to scan it, but it is SIMPLE to make!
If you care to email me at billmountjoy@yahoo.com - I'll see what I can find.
