Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I got the point method from Carson-Newman almost 20 years ago. Call the college and I am sure they can put you on to their tapes, etc. As an Ex-QB I will tell you unequivocally, it is the best thing that ever happened to an option QB!!! The ride and decide makes you reach backward to the dive back while keeping your head straight ahead on your read. This to me, was always unnatural and uncomfortable.
With the point, your head is focused on the read with the ball pointing directly at him and your entire motion is going forward unhindered. The rules are simple: If the ball is still there when the dive back arrives at the mesh, it is his, period! HE NEVER REACHES FOR THE BALL, EVER! IF THE BALL IS STILL THERE, HE SIMPLY CLOSES DOWN ON IT AND RUNS HIS PATH. IF IT IS PULLED AT THE LAST INSTANT BY THE QB HE NEVER TOUCHES THE BALL, NO DISENGAGING NECESSARY AS THEY HAVE NEVER ENGAGED TO START WITH! Would love to converse with you further on this topic if you would care to. I have posted a ton on this subject in the last few years here on the forum and you will find lots of good information on the stored archives here, that I feel will help anyone interested in making the switch.
