Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I would like one play to run when the c gap defender consistantly comes down hard for the full back. We are a true flexbone triple option team who run mostly midline and inside veer. We did not have much success with the counter option because the 5 tech did not seem to squeeze hard when the motion went away from him. What is the backfield action of Tim Stower's trap option? Did anyone run the belly option with success? It seems to get to the perimiter pretty quick, but it does not have the counter action.
The play you need to run is outside veer.We too are Flexbone. This one play has opened up our offense tremendously.Tackle and slotback double the 5-tech to ILB.Read the next man on or off the L.O.S for dive/keep.We face a lot of 4-4 defenses and the read is the OLB.He is used to playing pitch so he has no clue.E-mail me if you would like to trade some videos/high school game film.lotiefs@bellsouth.net
You NEVER block a read man unless your really not reading it at all and just running it predetermined. The read man is what the OPTION term originated from, depending upon what he does determines what your QB action or OPTIONS are. Am I missing something that your saying or taking what you said out of context? Please advise if you have time. Thanks.

Have always felt that in order to be successful with the veer, you have to run both ISV and OSV. The OSV is a natural progression for moving over a hole and is made simple for your QB with only the one read on the EMOLS verses the two reads he learns on the ISV. That is the main reason I always taught the ISV first because it makes the OSV simple to install. Ran the triple out of the bone for many years and the veer was a very integral part of my scheme. Coach Lo's suggestion is a good one.

What I meant by a "read " man is if the 5 tech is "reading" the reaction of your OT blocking down and trying to squeeze, false key him by blocking down on ILB and down block him with the SB.I was not referring to the QB's read. The QB's read is the next man on or off the L.O.S.Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks. My major concern witht the outside veer is our ability to block it. We run the flexbone without a tight end and my A-backs (wing backs) are small but fast. I'm concerned with their ability to block an athletic 5 tech. I also don't want to add too many blocking schemes. Does anyone know the reason Paul Johnson or Tim Stowers does not run the outside veer?
