Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Never say "NEVER", but I don't THINK so. Defensive Line techniques have changed DRASTICALLY since Jimmy Johnson took the "Miami 4-3" into the NFL (& is still being used in college). Also - today O-Guards are GENERALLY covered by DT's that are BETTER athleletes than they are. All the "wrong-shoulder" "SPILL" techniques (by DT's AND DE's) would (IMO) negate these offenses. I'm sure that if the Div 1 coaches thought it would benefit them to use it, they would! I don't guess we'll REALLY know until someone tries it.
Even two of the basic plays in OUR offense (& College/NFL) - the Counter & Power 0 - had to be "tweaked" to remain viable vs this type of D-Line play.
PS: Steve Spurrier ran a LITTLE "Jet" with SOME success at Florida.
I think so....Just as Coach Oneback said, it may have to be tweeked a little, but it still could be effective...One should not Hesitate to Innovate.....:cool;
