Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
21: Reverse pivot, follow midline, handoff to LH, fake waggle at 9 (Mirror 29)
24 Trap: Reverse pivot, off midline, (FB owns midline) handoff to FB, fake waggle at 9 (Mirror 26 Trap)
82 Down: Reverse pivot flat & fast down LOS, handoff to FB, fake option (Mirror 88 Down)
We bird dog our QBs and their steps "on air" before we progress to backfield period. Off season is a great time to install as well. All handoffs are forearm length -- we do not want that full extended arm (like the zone play).
Key points we emphasize w/our QBs ... on the 21/29, 21/29 Waggle "you own the midline". On the 24/26 Trap/Guts, the "fullback owns the midline". On the 80 Series (Belly/Down), we emphasize "flast & fast" for the 82/88 downs and "45 & deep" for 83/87 Belly footwork. Hope this helps.

Pivot with the first step at 6"Oclock. VERY IMPORTANT: The QB's feet must both pivot at the same time. It is the same technique as a guard would do for a pull step. Therefore, it is pull step at 6, then crossover at 6 and one more step at 6. The feet of the QB will not be parallel to LOS they will be perpendicular. The back of the QB is facing the defense and ALL HANDOFFS are like dealing cards. Once the ball is handed off to the HB or WB it is boot action away for the QB and HE MUST attack the opposite flank.
COACHING POINT:
-While QB attacks the flank he is to watch the safeties reaction so that he has an idea of how the Safety will play the drag on the waggle. When you choose to run it.
-QB will not give the midline to the FB and will use the same footwork for waggle, Buck and Weave (trap).
-There are no changes for the footwork of the FB on any of the buck series plays. He will take his playside foot and step with it to the opposite play leg of the center, this will give the midline to the QB. He then receives the handoff and almost weaves back to the trap side.
Down
The above technique is correct.
REMEMBER:
The aiming point for the FB is the outside leg of the tackle.
Hope this helps

We dont lose any games we just run out of time.

We took our QB footwork teaching progression from Denny Creehan. On the 24/26 trap, the QB makes a subtle 6" step off the midline. The FB's footwork is the same for the 21/29 and the traps.
