I hope to get some discussion on terminology. Obviously, all this football terminology is never going to be universal, but I am just going thru some terminology issues with my staff.
I learned from a guy that had College, NFL and HS experience that the ability to communicate is highly important when it comes to running your offense or defense. He used pneumonic language in everything he did.
For example,
Mike LB blitz's were:
1. MAG - Mike in A gap
2. MOB - Mike in B gap
Will LB blitz's were:
1. WAG - Will in A gap
2. WEB - Will in B gap
3. WIC - Will in C gap
Our defensive call was always Alignment, Charge, Blitz, Coverage. So if you never heard "your name" being called, you never blitzed.
Other coaches use "buzz words" like "lightning", "thunder", etc while communicating their defensive blitzs or charges.
So what type of language do you coaches use? What is the easiest method of communicating your calls?
Termonology will always be a point of conjecture as far as I am concerned. One thing you can count on, it changes from camp to camp! Standard terms are used by everyone, but after that I found out years ago that what works for you, that is easy and simple, is the way to go. Come up with your own system,, you don't have to copy anyone else.

I like using the words in your example, coach, but for us that's when we blitz more than one backer. If we want one of them to blitz, we just call his name (Mike, Will, Sam, or Bandit) in the huddle.
