Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Jerry, your humor rivals Jerry Seinfeld and Denis Leary. Of course you grew up with Bob Hope and Benny Youngman so that would be a more accurate metaphor. Nevertheless, I got a big laugh out of your last post.
This summer I was at a party in my hometown (same day as Coach Mountjoy's clinic, which was the reason why I could not speak at his clinic) with the starting defensive end from Southlake Carroll's 2006 championship team. His cousin lives in my hometown. He explained to me what Carroll's program is all about. Basically, he said that 12 months a year, the coaches are intense and they never, ever, ever expect anything but dominance. If one play is not dominant, they are all over their players with the utmost urgency to 1. correct the error, which led to the lack of dominance; 2. get dominant on the next play. He said his defensive coordinator was so obsessed with winning that he literally went nuts everytime there was an error in alignment, assignment, or technique. He never let anything go and that's why they win.
I'm rooting for Carroll, even though I come from the antithesis of Carroll-- a tough Italian town in the Coal Region of Pennsylvania where people work hard for their money.

It is HENNIE Youngman, not BENNIE Youngman, you twit! But, perfectly understandable as you probably have too much coal dust up your nose. Hehehehe How is practice going this week?

I really like the Carrol staff mindset!!! DON'T EVER COACH ANY WAY EXCEPT TOWARD PERFECTION!!!
If the kids don't carry out an assignment correctly, GET IT CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY AND DON'T WAIT!!!
If you tolerate less than what meets your expectations on EVERY PLAY, YOUR MAKING A BIG MISTAKE BY NOT CORRECTING IT IMMEDIATELY!!! To DOMINATE on EVERY play takes SUPERIOR ATHLETES and that is a real CHALLENGE year in and year out on the high school level when you have to play only kids that live in your district!

Practice is going slow... we have a much different team this year. I don't know if we have enough players who care and, according to Lou Holtz, that's how you win... by putting 11 people on the field all the time who care.

I think Northwestern will win in a very close game. SLC should have success in the air against NW's inexperienced secondary and Newton, SLC's RB is good for at least a TD, but I don't think SLC has seen the speed and agility of the NW receivers and QB. NW's front seven are incredibly fast and get to the ball, so SLC QB Dodge will find himself under unusual pressure. I think NW will surprise a lot of people with their sound coaching and discipline. In today's game, speed kills and I think that will make all the difference.
The outcome of the game is indictive of why those of us who coach in Florida think we have the best HS talent in the country. Texas is great also and california. That is not to say that there is not great talent in every state in the union more than likely, we just feel like we have more than our share. You would not believe the football talent in that south Florida area!

IMHO the best HS football is generally concentrated in five states: CA, TX, FL, OH and PA (in no particular order). Of course, there are other areas of very successful football (tidewater area of VA for example).
I think Florida has the best talent, but the other states have the advantage in other areas. Florida has, without question, the lowest coaching pay in the South. Texas, Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas always pay their HS coaces well. In most areas of Florida, booster clubs are very restrictive in what they can and can't do with their money in terms of contributing to the program.
Coaches in Texas, Georgia, Ohio, etc. do more with their kids and run better programs because they are allowed to. In Florida that isn't the case. There have been several articles about coaches fleeing Florida to destinations north for more money and more freedom over their program.
Florida has the best talent, but can't do as much with it as other states. If Florida ever got the same kind of money and freedom coaches in Texas, Georgia, Ohio, and the Carolinas WATCH OUT.
Bottom line, in terms of PROGRAMS, Florida coaches do more with less than anyone in the country.
