Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We seem to be the most fragile team in the state. The past 3 years we have dealt with injuries to key players. Today we practiced without 8 kids who have started a game for us this season, for various reasons - 3 of those were mostly precautionary but AT LEAST 3 of those guys won't play the next two weeks. These are tough kids. There is no way they are wimping out.
2 of the kids were our best players who we found out have been having some headaches this week. These guys carry the ball a lot and are part of a lot of collisions. There is no way they will go to the Dr. We had to make them sit out of practice.
2 of the kids have muscle strains that have come with them from before the season.
One hurt his neck in a game.
One took a helmet or cleat to the hip / thigh.
One has a bruised bone in the ankle.
One has a strained groin that happenend in the last game.
It seems like injuries are coming from every direction.
Our kids work very hard in practice. We are physical, but do not take people to the ground. We are big on playing / sprinting to the whistle and giving great effort.
They lift 2-4 times a week.
What do you do in this situation? Is this just part of the game? Are we working them too hard? Do we ease off? We have a good team and the season has gone well so far, but I want to handle this the right way and get us healthy and sharp by the end of the season.
It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. SOMETIMES - we all have seasons like that. In 2000 - we lost 8 starters by mid season. USUALLY - we make it thru the year relatively unscathed!
You seem to be doing all the things necessary to be "coaching against injuries in practice".
