Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
The HC is meeting with us to evaluate the areas that need improvement from this past season. I have some definite things in mind both negative and positive. Some of the things may be pretty touchy for the other assistants and possibly the HC all who I consider friends as well as co workers. Do I keep my mouth shut and let things not get said that need to be or should I be completely honest at all cost. Ultimately I will do what I feel is right, but I would sure appreciate any input you other coaches have. Thanks!
I am a HC who is going through some of the same questions. It is uncomfortable, but I know I won't be happy with myself now or next season if I'm not honest about how I think things should be done differently.
I think if you give your critiques with tact, and that you realize that the HC has the final say, and that he has the right to do things the way he sees fit, you will be fine and that you should speak freely if your opinion is being asked.
If you can't live with the decisions the HC makes, OR you can't state your opinions and do your best to help the team, I don't think you want to be coaching there anyway.
Hope that makes sense and helps.
Wish you guys could have sat in on some coach's meetings we used to have in the OLD SCHOOL days. It has gotten to the point of almost getting out of hand on more than one occasion! BUT, THE ULTIMATE SALVATION WAS WE ALL KNEW, NO MATTER WHAT OUR POSITION ON A TOPIC HAPPENED TO BE THAT PROMPTED THE FLARING TEMPERS, WE ALL HAD ONE OBJECTIVE THAT REALLY MATTERED AND THAT WAS TO WIN!!! We were men, not a bunch of limp wristed ........... and we all felt passionately about our stance in the argument. Most of those sessions ended with us all going out, getting something to eat, shaking hands all around and heading home. Now, if you work with guys who are hot headed know it alls and they really don't know which end is up on a football field, if your an assistant, state your case and then shut up. THE HEAD COACH, AS YOU KNOW, WILL MAKE THE FINAL DECISION. I used to sit, take part in, listen to all that was going on and being said. Then, when I had made up my mind on an issue I would stand up and say: OK MEN, THIS IS HOW IT S GOING TO BE. I would then make my decision perfectly clear and move on. AS head coaches back then, our favorite saying was: IT'S MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY ( I STILL WAS SAYING IT 42 YEARS LATER) AND WE DIDN'T COACH BY COMMITTEE. WE LISTENED AND TOOK GOOD SOUND SUGGESTIONS FROM OUR STAFFS, OF COURSE, BUT THE BUCK STOPPED WITH US AND STILL DOES.
