This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I am working out a few kinks in my system and was wondering how you are playing your DE's (OLB's in 44 platform) as well as your ILB's when dealing with sprint out??
Lets say we are dealing with a pro set (SE, TE, FL, two backs) and we are locked in cover-0 so the CB's on #1's and FS on #2 strong (TE). The QB sprints to the TE/FL side (strong). How do you play it??
1)Do you have the contain player (DE/OLB) force or play the flat?? This would have an effect on the playside ILB since he must play the opposite of the contain player.
2)Does your backside ILB bump down and replace the playside ILB in hook/curl zone? Or does he drop to another zone??
3)Do you have your back side contain player (DE/OLB) get deep and follow flow checking for CRAB's (counter, reverse and bootleg) or do you have him read late and drop back into the flat??
In Cover 0 BOTH OLB's CAN be put on a BLITZ to the QB. You cannot get any better than that. They are (in a 44) 3-4 yds outside the TE (or Weak OT) & should NOT be flanked!
I agree with Oneback. If you are locked in a C-0, there should be no issues. If you are running a C-3 out of your 44, though, your DE's should be getting after the QB, and the near ILB should be the force on the roll. OLB's can't come racing up on him, but if one does, he needs to just come a hundred miles an hour! If you're going to make a wrong read, make it while you are being decisive going full speed. Backside ILB should shift over in his zone and run with anyone dragging across the middle. Backside DE and OLB should be looking for counter, reverse, and throwbacks.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
