Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I have coached the option game out of the maryland I and spread option set. Last year our weak link was our OL. I have been told on more than one occasion to put my best lineman at center, our biggest lineman at guards, and our quickest lineman at tackle. Any advice?
I think those that told you that have it backwards. I TOTLALLY AGREE WITH YOUR BEST BLOCKER AT CENTER, BUT I WANT MY QUICKEST AT THE GUARD SLOTS AND THE BIGGEST AT THE TACKLE SPOTS.

I think it depends on the other teams in your division run on defense.
If you play mostly even fronts I think you want your best point of attack blockers/biggest linemen at guard and quick, athletic linemen at tackle. If you face mostly odd fronts with the tackles covered than you want to flip it and put your point of attack blockers/biggest linemen at tackle and quick guys at guard.
If you face a mixture of Even and Odd fronts than I would put your quicker guys at guard because most offenses have the guards pulling more than tackles.
Just my opinion of course...
...Oh, and I agree with you and Coach Easton that the Center should be your best linemen overall.
With our offensive system, our center needs to be our smartest lineman (football smarts, that is), our tackles usually our best overall, and most athletic linemen, and our guards have to be flat out tenacious, solid kids who don't give ground.
