Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Was wondering what routes you build your spread passing attacks around, and what concepts? Do you use your QB in the gun or up under? I devoted quite a few pages of my book to these topics and would like to hear what you do in your attack. I diagrammed several of my best patterns from each of the 4 major concepts that I utilize. Let me hear from you if you have time.

I don't have a favorite yet, but I have been working on installing some of the basics with my Freshman QB. In a 7 - 7 game on Tuesday we faced a team that tried to play our set with a Cover 2 defense. We ran a Smash concept, with the inside receiver running a 7 yard spot route to freeze the LB's. The QB recognized the defense jumping the underneath route and threw a beautiful pass to the WR running the corner route. The QB is young and is having problems recognizing coverages quickly, but I am going to "baptize" him under fire this summer. We have a veteran QB that will take the majority of the reps, but I thought this to be the best time to get the younger guy prepped for duty. Do you have any tips for helping QBs recognize coverage?
I have been reading the book and I have been working with the QB's on some of the things in whcih you were speaking. I hope to be able to tell you if they are actually absorbing anything in a week or so, we have a 7 on 7 tourny going on next Tuesday.
Glad to hear your report. Once they figure out they are not going to get creamed by blitzes and can run out of trouble, they will begin to realize the beauty of the attack. Just take it one day at a time.

Here in the UK we see a lot of man (generally because we have maybe 8-10 practices to get complete rookies ready for the 1st college game) so Im a big fan of slant out (and switch when they start to hit down on this), hitches, verts, chair.
When we do go up against a team that runs a lot of zone - smash vs 2 a lot of curl/out (choice) vs cov 3
Im also a big fan of the drive concept
In the whole offense we only run 8 passes, 2 screens and 5 runs.
