Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Looks like flat-out phenomenal athleticism and below average tackling instincts also played a role, but man, I SEE what you are saying.
What do you think you would've done against that offense...if you've got OU's defense that is? I'm thinking you're going to say something along the lines of ~ 4-2-5...pressing all 4 WRs.

Far be it form me to criticize Bob Stoops, but his defense should know how to adjust to this formation. I can not believe that what you see in the clip is what they are supposed to do.
The PASSING strength of the formation is to the offensive left, while the TE is to the right. OU aligned their front 7 (8 if you include the SS) as though this is a strong (offensive) right formation because of the presence of the TE. That is fine, but if you do it like that, YOU MUST BRING YOUR CB OVER. Look at #15 (CB) in the clip. IF they are supposed to be in man, he and #41 (SS) both appear to be covering the TE while no one covers the slot WR. If they are not a CB over team, they need to (at least) align their front so as to to play the two WR side as the strong side (and bring the $ out where he will not get cracked). As it turned out, they were completely outnumbered on the flank.
Now you can play man or zone and be sound against the run too. I would prefer press coverage but even off-man would be much better than what they did.
Maybe #15 was supposed to align on the other side but blew his assignment. IMO, there is no way that a good youth team should be unable to align properly against such a common formation, let alone a top-flight 1-A program.
