Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Which front do you think is best suited to defend the shotgun spread offense? In the past, we defended with a 44 Man free package, it was decent but I can't help there might be something better. Most of the teams we face are running mostly and I don't they are counting men on either side. Any ideas?
IN 20 PLUS YEARS NOW OF RUNNING THE 3 X 2 SPREAD, THE HARDEST TO THROW AGAINST OR RUN AGAINST IS MAN STRAIGHT ACROSS THE BOARD, ROLLED UP HARD WITH INSIDE LEVERAGE AND PLAYING BUMP AND RUN, NOT TURN AND RUN!

If you choose to play zone against a well run spread offense who really understands the concepts of the passing game, your going to be just to darn vulnerable in my opinion. Your just asking a player to cover too much area by himself and a well designed passing attack will put more than one receiver in the same area at the same time. By spreading out the defense to start with by alignment, you have already placed that defender on an island by himself with no help and now your asking him to defend against more than one receiver. THE OFFENSE SHOULD WIN THAT BATTLE MOST OF THE TIME DON'T YOU THINK?

1. We play against a few high school teams that run their version of the spread. The QB's in our league can run, but are average at best when throwing the ball. We see mostly 3 step drop and roll out. What are your thoughts on defending a spread offense with just a running QB?
2. What keys do you teach your LB's versus the spread?
Thanks in advance, Coach Mac
some people live on what they know, and some people live for what they don't
We play the odd stackwe will run cover 0 or cover 1 mostly, sometimes man under 2 deep in obvious passing situations. If we are sending our spurs we have them read far back to stop zone read, if we drop them with the slot receiver we will send our DT or OLB off the edge. Mike is dive read all the way. We will try to take away their best plays and make their worst runner carry the ball. If we see option, spur is qb and OLB is pitch. safety runs the alley.
PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGY! I NEVER SAW YOUR POST UNTIL JUST NOW! IN ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION: If a guy can't throw, BLITZ THE DICKENS OUT OF HIM. To take the running QB out of the equation, MAKE CERTAIN EVERY PLAY SOMEBODY HITS HIM, LEGALLY OF COURSE!!! Pretty soon he will be EXPECTING TO GET HIT SO DON'T DISAPPOINT HIM!!! PUT AS MANY IN THE BOX AS YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH AND SEND THEM ALL.
