Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I’ve always been interested in the triple gun but never ran it before. I recently been hired a an OC at a small school out side Waco. The school has never ran any type of spread, let alone a triple gun. We don’t have any off season sessions planned till pre-season, four weeks prior to first game.
My questions (more like concerns) are;
1. How hard is it to install the triple gun at the HS level?
2. Is four weeks enough time to introduce (practice/reps) prior to season?
3. All skilled positions have graduated, and the JV QB (senior this season) has been that grades QB since 3rd grade, but not best/fastest runner. Would it be wise to mix up chemistry of team and replace with best athlete/runner?
4. I know the goal is to have the defense try and stop/play 6 players. Is there a ratio you use as a rule of thumb on number of carries per position?
5. What would be a good run to pass ratio; 50-50, 60-40, etc?

Coach good to hear from you and from texas. Coach if you fill comfortable with what you install so will the kids, a 50 / 50 goal would be good to start with and then see what best suits your kids and their abilities. Find the best competitor and one that will take charge and one the other players will follow and put him at QB (he doesn't have to be the fastest). Coach my new manual trhat I just finished will help you with all the concepts of the run and passing game. My new manual is called Installing the Gun, Pistol, and Underneath Center offense. It will give you how to install and teach the spread and zone read concepts. Number of carries per position is hard to determine your opponent will decide that based upon the talent of your backfield. I look forward to visiting further about this. Good to hear from a caoach from Waco. Coach CAmpbell

Coach winninig is done in the off season both in the classroom as well as the weight room. If you dont' investment much, you don't get much; the more you give the harder it is to surrender; if you don't put much in then losing isn't going to hurt much. You have probably heard these before but its a fact. It doesn't hurt either to some athletes. Coach Campbell
I would try to get your skill positions in as much as possible, especially if they haven't run any type of option before, also your Q and center need to get together to get the snaps down perfectly. As far as run pass ratio, we usually do what the defense tells us. we figure if they don't put t least 7 in the box we can run as much as we want. If they load it up we throw until they come out of it.
