Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We break our secondary into Field and Boundary. For cover 2 both Field and Boundary corners do the same thing. They ride #1 watching #2. They are responsible for the flats, but if both 1 and 2 go verticle they take #1. The Free Safety and Boundary Half play the same. They read #2 to #1 getting over the top. Their read is the first verticle to them. What it means is if #2 goes verticle thats their read and they take him. If #2 stays short they move to #1 and get over the top. So if #2 runs an out and #1 runs a fly the deep player would continue to move to and cover deep on #1, and the out route would be taken by the Corner. We have the Field Half jam #2 and take away the in route by #1. If it doesn't appear he works out. OLB's play hook to curl. MLB plays short middle.
For 2 Man we have the WILL take #2 weak. Corners man up on #1 and the Field Half man on #2. The Free and Boundary Half are over the top.
