Plainfield Football Parent Information
Parent Communication Philosophy:
Coaching football is an honor to which I owe a great thanks to all parents for allowing the football staff the opportunity to coach their sons. Establishing clear expectations and adopting a pro-active approach in dealing with parent(s) is extremely important to the operation of the football program. Linked to the establishment of expectations, it is necessary to create well-defined program boundaries that parents understand and are willing to comply with. However, I want the parents to take part in what we are doing and share in our success. The meanings of family are very important to me and I truly wish to create a football family where parents, players, and coaches can enjoy the great game of high school football.
Points of Emphasis:
Newsletters
Parent Meeting (pre-season banquet after scrimmage)

Player Expectations, Team Discipline, and General Information
Player Approach Philosophy:
I believe that consistency, tempered with fairness and compassion, are the cornerstones of what is right in dealing with players. Our football players will be held to high standards of performance and behavior; on and off the football field. These expectations will be made clear and players will do their very best to live up to them. Our players will not be treated poorly, run down in public, or criticized in the media. It is my hope that by treating our players with respect and with compassion, we can create a sense of family and come to believe that together we can accomplish anything.
Player Expectations (Standards of Performance):
Maintain academic eligibility and graduate from Plainfield High School
Follow team and school rules
Attend all practices and meetings
Arrive at all practices and meetings early
Take pride in yourself, the football program, and in your school
Keep an up-beat and positive attitude at all times
Always display good sportsmanship and class
Work hard at everything you do in order to reach your potential (hustle every rep)
Must be willing to sacrifice for the good of the squad
Be willing to accept a role on the team that isn’t consistent with personal goals
Strive to focus during practice and get better every day
Maintain great intensity during practices and games
Keep open-lines of communication with coaching staff and head coach
Discipline Philosophy:
Discipline is critical to the success of any organization, team, or classroom. In the case of coaching; it is not unlike teaching where having a few manageable rules is more effective than having a variety of rules that are difficult to enforce. Our players will be held accountable for their actions and we will always strive to become better people through the game of football.
Points of Emphasis:
Any action detrimental to team, player, or school will result in whatever action necessary to provide for a safe environment and respectful and winning program.
Recognize and enforce extra-curricular code of conduct and/or school policies
Fair, Firm, and Consistent
Team Rules:
Don’t embarrass yourself, your family, or the school
Don’t be late or miss any mandatory football function
Don’t bully or harass others
Show respect to opponents, teammates, members of the school community, and the public
Follow Plainfield H.S. Discipline Code (school rules) and Extra-Curricular Code (year-long)
Consequences:
Punishment enforced on a case-by-case basis
Verbal warning(s)
Physical reinforcement and/or make-up for attendance issues

Player-Parent-Coach Conference
Playing time suspension(s)
Removal from team
