The best way and the way we do since I'm also the line coach is tpo zone scheme the 3.5.3. this gives you the best opportunity to pick it up. Also slot your tight end and turn the 3 man game to a trwo man game on the edge. Coaach CAmpbell
Would you say to scrap the veer and midline against these teams? and can you explain a little more about slotting the TE. I'm not quite sure what you mean about the 3 man game.
Veer can be effective vs. the 3-3-5, but it needs to be run a bit different. Widen your splits! Get a bunch of room between C and T. You can't run outside veer well when they cover the tackles, but you can run a good inside veer. Have the OT take an inside power step and work to the stacked OLB. That footwork will ensure that he covers B gap no matter who is there--a DE or OLB. Try to find a playbook from Carson Newman. Their blocking rules help with this defense a ton. I don't use them to a T, but I do use their basic ideas. Also a G-veer (with the G pulling outside) works very well--use a token mesh and allow the veer back to replace the G's block; you can run the QB duck as well behind the veer back. Might want to try to run a twins to one side and the TE to the other to pull that rover out on an island to allow even numbers. All that being said, you have to also have a good power running game against a 33 stack. Run right at them! I have some good stuff on this from a split-back veer perspective if you are interested email me at kelly.fbcoach@gmail.com

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
Coach Campbell I was wondering how you block your Load/Lead option vs a 3-3 defense. Do you combo the 4 technique with the TE/T down to the Mike and then have the lead back block the stacked backer and pitch off of the invert? Or would you lead on the Invert and pitch off the stacked backer?
