Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Wanted to receive feedback from coaches on your programs during two-a-days. I have heard some coaches say "stay away from weights" during two-a-days and some continue on with as much as 3 days of lifting. With only two weeks left i am putting together a two day a week program keeping the boys off the iron and emphasizing various Pullups, Pushups, Dips, Lunges, 1 leg squats, wall sits and core.
I have also considered using the Tractor tires in replacement of power cleans.
Coach, we still hit the iron hard during camp (2 days per week), but with a timed intense period, so that we are in and out. We go very hard during the school year/summer 4 days per week and try to keep the gains we've made. We focus on 1 major lift for each major body part etc. during camp.
Bench w/chains, DB or BB Row, Power Shrug on Day 1
Squat, Hang Clean, Standing Shoulder Press on Day 2
first 2 exercises each day are 4 sets with 1:30 in between and exercise 3 is 3 sets with 1 min. in between. we are always out in under 20 minutes. Everyone must be in when we begin, No sitting, conversations etc.
At times I may add a rear delt or neck exercise in addition. Players can also do a tri exercise on day 1 and a bi on day 2, but that would be optional during camp.
Thanks Coach...appreciate the insight. The more i had thought about it the more i was planning on including our major lifts (Bench, Squat, Clean). Good luck this year
Another option, if you're strength coach periodizes the program correctly, is to go into 2-a-days on a deload week which should free your players up to put more energy into practice and skill development.
