i've been doing some research on dick lebeau's zone blitz concepts and i'm left with some questions. At the high school level how do you install it, terminology, techniques? What are some things that y'all do that are successful for you?
It doesn't matter how much you know, until they know how much you care.
The Steelers have gotten away from being as much three-deep zone blitz and they started adding different coverages with their five-man pressures. Because when they first started doing it in '93 and '94 they were pretty much a three-deep fire zone team and they were pretty good at it because it was new and people hadn't caught up to it. When teams take the offseason to study you, they figure out ways to beat you and there were some snakes in there that sometimes you're not aware of until those plays actually hit. They kind of had to evolve and be a little bit more exotic in some of their coverages. That's kind of where they went to from '94 to present, being more multiple. You can mix a little man but you can still keep your zone elements involved as well."
