Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Switching from a base 53 cover 3 defense to a 33 stack.
We liked the stack because we have a good, good nose and lots of athletic kids but are short on big anchor DE types needed in a traditional 50.
One major issue for us has always been a lack of run support in Cover 3 looks. Our kids were poor on fade and weak in the run game due to a fear of the deep ball and the "don't come up till the ball crosses line of scrimmage" coaching points.
Enter the Cover 2. We have seen others in our league with lots of success in a 43 Cover 2. Lots of Wing T flat passing and jet sweep stuff is hard to run vs. the Cover 2.
However, we don't have 2- 40 front DTs and we like the slanting ability of the 33 and ability of the stack keeping OL off our backers.
Hence the 33 Cover 2.... We see a lot of Wing T and Jet Wing T. We plan on keeping a SPUR on the Strong side and feel comfortable with a OLB, Corner, and Safety on the weakside.
Thoughts for the long haul? Strenghts/weaknesses with this?
