Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coaches I know the power play is the big play but what is all your primary plays you run, then your secondary plays, and then any special plays you run. Also I know our practice plans are typically different then most coaches so how do you organize your offensive practices? Thanks
Again, I don't run the DW but our base plays are the same as we have similar philosophy. If you look at the Vallaton system, he has four base plays: Power off tackle, Fullback trap, Sweep, Wing counter. Everything else comes off of those four. I would add to that a wedge blocked play or two. I don't know how other DW coaches do it but Vallaton is a fanatic about selling out to the system and perfecting the base plays. Just my take on it.
Anyone who runs the DW share there in season practice plan? What we do is warm-up first, then do a team take-off period 5 minutes. Then a 15 minute individual period where lineman work under the chutes, backs work 5 minute hand-off drills with qb's, 5 minute ropes and cones, 5 minutes two man sled. qb's do 5 minutes hand-offs, 5 minutes one man sled, 5 minutes throwing. Then we break into two groups internal and external for 20 minutes, then come together for 40 minutes of team. How do you coaches do your practice plans in season?
The perfect complement to the DW power plays is the FB trap (3 trap at 2). After the power plays and FB traps, our primary plays last year were 6G and 7G from an unbalanced line, wedge in short yardage situations, and of course, the 47C wingback counter trap. Along with the power plays, these are the DW staples. Having a fullback that can carry the ball is a big bonus in running this offense. Depending on the defense you are facing, the 38 and 29 bucksweep and QB bootleg are also effective plays. Passing offense is most effective in play action off of your base plays. The waggle is my favorite. If you have a halfback who can pass, it is also a good play off the power plays.

I really excite join to them for information and discussion. I really forward discussion and fun time. Enjoy talk about football. coach Mario
What are some keys for stopping the double wing? We are thinking about playing cover 2 with hard corners and blitz the motion side corner and try to run down the play from behind. The true test would be to slow the play down at the point of attack. The team runs a true double wing... super toss, counter, FB trap, G dive, belly option. Very successfuly program.
