Expectations of an assistant coach
Roger Brown
Be a teacher. The most important characteristic of a successful coach is his ability to teach. Games are not won by what a coach thinks he knows, they are won by what his players have learned. Always remember, it's not what you know, it's what they know.
Stimulate your players to be the best they can be. Help them strive for achievement in academics, athletics, and in the community. Remember, we are trying to produce men, not just football players.
Be loyal, honest, and dedicated to the Chaska football program and ALL if its coaches and players. It is crucial that you know the characteristic that I value the most from you is loyalty. Without loyalty to eachother, we cannot possibly reach our potential as a staff or TEAM.
Stress "Team Concept" Football.
Be on time for all practices, meetings and football related events.
Be prepared for all practices, games, and football related events.
Learn as much as possible about the position you coach and the game of football.
Set high expectations for yourself, your position players, and the team.
Do not make excuses
Coach in a positive manner and with a positive attitude.
Coach with enthusiasm. Practice this everyday and demand it from your players.
Pay attention to details. Persistence and perseverance regarding the details makes for a winning program.
Coach and demand effort at all times. Never allow a player to loaf or give less than his best. Effort is a habit and is a building block to success.
Coach fundamentals, stress fundamentals, drill fundamentals
Understand your role within the staff and perform it to the best of your ability.
